Beautiful, long summers

The weather in South Australia has beautiful, long summers and mild winters. In summer, temperatures often soar above 35 degrees Celsius (°C). That’s 95° Fahrenheit! It’s perfect holiday weather but make sure you cover up and wear sunscreen.

For wine lovers

If you drink wine, you’ll love South Australia. There are 18 wine regions to choose from and you won’t have to travel far to enjoy them. Adelaide City has more than 200 cellar doors on its doorstep, all within an hour’s drive of the city.

Capital city Adelaide

Adelaide has been voted Australia’s most liveable city. There are direct flights to Adelaide from major Asian airports and all Australian capital cities.

Interstate coaches and trains also service Adelaide, including The Ghan transcontinental train which takes you from the south to the north of Australia. The Ghan passes through the red centre, via Alice Springs and onto tropical Darwin in the Northern Territory.

Indulge in some retail therapy while in Adelaide, a cosmopolitan city which is surrounded by parklands. Stroll along the North Terrace boulevard and visit the many art galleries and museums. Visit giant pandas Wang Wang and Funi at the Adelaide Zoo.

Country regions

South Australia is the wine and seafood capital of Australia; where the Murray River meets the sea; and the gateway to the South Australian outback. The Flinders Ranges and Outback and Kangaroo Island are unique and spectacular and are places as of great cultural, natural and spiritual significance. World Heritage Listed caves are found at Naracoorte on the Limestone Coast.

The South Australian coastline is more than 3,800 kilometres long and is punctuated by towns, beaches, cliffs and jetties. Many coastal regions offer quality wines and fresh produce, including local seafood.

The South Australian coastline has fantastic fishing, boating and surfing. Head to Kangaroo Island, Fleurieu Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Eyre Peninsula or Limestone Coast for more brilliant coastal experiences.

The Murray River winds through South Australia from the Riverland through to the Coorong on its way to meet the sea. Kick back and relax on a houseboat, or explore the river towns and wineries along the river.

Shanghai Women’s Federation Business Delegation

The Mayor of Mt Barker, Ann Ferguson hosted a delegation from the Shanghai Women’s Federation in September 2015. Women business leaders from Shanghai enjoyed the Adelaide Hills including Hahndorf and Mt Barker. Joined by the President of the Australia China Friendship Society South Australia, Ms June Phillips the delegation toured the region and discovered some unique flavours and experiences of South Australia.
