The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC)

The CPAFFC is one of the earliest national people’s organizations engaged in people-to-people diplomacy of the People’s Republic of China with the purposes of enhancing people’s friendship, furthering international cooperation, safeguarding world peace and promoting common development, and on behalf of the Chinese people, the CPAFFC makes friends with foreign countries widely and closely on the international arena. It serves the great cause of China’s peaceful development and peaceful reunification and strive for the solidarity and progress of all mankind.

The state relations rely on the people’s friendship. The understanding and friendship between peoples are the foundation of countries’ relationship. Since its establishment in 1954, the CPAFFC has worked hard to the implementation of China’s independent policy of peace, observing the Five Principles of peaceful coexistence.

It serves as a bridge under the support and concern of the Chinese government and all sectors of society in China and abroad. It carries out people-to-people friendship work in an all-round, multi-level and wide-range way which enhances understanding, develops friendship, and strengthens cooperation between countries. It works hard to lay a solid foundation of friendship between China and other countries and plays an active role in the building of a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity.

Friendship forums are organised by CPAFFC every two years and are held in different regions of China. The main theme of the forums is Sustainable development of people to people friendship work initiated by CPAFFC president Madam Li Xiaolin in 2004. These forums have provided a platform for friendly organisations from different countries in the American Oceania region to promote exchanges and friendly communication.

The first forum was held in Chongqing in 2004, 2nd in Wuhan in 2006, 3rd in Zhangjiajie, Hunan in 2008, 4th in Nanchang, Jianxi in 2010, 5th in Changchun, Jilin in 2012 and 6th in Guiyang, Guizhou in 2014.
