With a view to further promote the exchange and friendship between the young people of different countries, Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Shanghai Youth Federation will jointly sponsor the 13th Shanghai International Youth Interactive Friendship Camp from 18 to 27 July, 2017 in Shanghai, China.
The purpose of this camp is to provide an opportunity for the young participants to build a bridge for friendship and a platform for exchange beyond language and cultural barriers to develop a spirit of cooperation among them.
We sincerely invite you to organize a group of youths from 15 to 17 years old to attend our camp. The camp will provide full-time teachers to ensure the safety of campers, and we provide insurance for campers as well.
Participants will pay for their own international travel expenses, while we only cover the cost of the event, board & lodging, and local transportation in Shanghai for 5 campers and 1 teacher.
The 13th Shanghai International Youth Interactive Friendship Camp 2017, co-organized by Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (SPAFFC) and Shanghai Youth Federation, will be held from July 18 to July 27, 2017 (10 days) in Shanghai. Teenagers from all over the world are welcome to apply for it.
1. Applicants shall be from 15 to 17 years old with at least medium level of English communication skills. Applicants shall have an open mind and willingness to learn different culture. Priority will be given to those Australians who can speak Chinese or are studying Chinese.
Applicants shall fill in application form with a copy of passport as an attachment. A formal invitation will be issued to qualified applicants after examination and confirmation by SPAFFC

In order to leave more seats to the teenagers who are interested in China, those who have attended the Friendship Camp before are not in the list of invitation.
2. SPAFFC only covers the cost of event, board & lodge, and transportation in Shanghai for the actual camp period. Any cost beyond actual camp period shall be covered by campers themselves. Successful applicants shall cover the international airfare.
3. To enable the selection committee to learn initial details about the applicant, each applicant will submit a resume stating their educational, and extra curricular achievements and accomplishments, including:
a) Sporting, musical, and any community activities including any leadership or public speaking roles.
b) Examples of personal strengths and weaknesses.
c) Personal qualities that would enable them to be a successful delegate to represent ACFS.
d) Ability to handle any difficult or inappropriate situation.
e) Ability to adapt to cultural and culinary differences.
4. Camper groups shall arrive in Shanghai in the morning of July 18, 2017 and leave hotel in the morning or afternoon of July 27, 2017. Please contact the liaison staff in case of special circumstances. During the camp, all campers will live in the designated venues. Please bring necessary clothes, wash suppliers and regular medicine if needed.
5. Please inform us in advance of your food taboo or allergies if you have any.
6. Campers are required to prepare for the Theme Show on Nations. Please prepare for it in advance (such means as handicrafts or paintings or food to demonstrate national characteristics).
7. Closing date for applications to ACFS in Australia is Friday April 14th 2017
8. Australian nominations will be forwarded to Shanghai and successful nominees will commence preparatory workshops in person or on-line prior to Monday May 1, 2017.
